01.24.08 -- 2Kings 4:1-36

RE:flect
Do you see that it is happening? The spiritual son of Elijah is beginning to grow the existing ministry of Elijah farther, greater, more? These short stories from the life of Elisha are amazing, but they are also part of the developing story... the continuation of Elijah's legacy.

RE:act
This story, this chapter (II Kings 4) should be remembered as a chapter of promise. God will indeed honor many who wish to carry on the legacy of one who came before them. Today's reaction is: easy to say, hard to do - "have faith". Do you believe that, with God's help, you could continue on the ministry of another, and be successful, and that both(the forerunner and the legacy carrier) of you would be more concerned with the Name of God being praised, than you?

RE:ply
Lord, you work in mysterious ways.
Lord, you have also unmoved the mystery in many ways also. Help us to learn from other's lives in scripture. Help us to gain faith in you through the History of Israel, Christ's Church and those around us.
Lord, thank you.

"Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done."
Psalm 78:1-4
