01.31.08 -- Amos 1:1; 4:11-13

RE:flect
"Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!"
How is that for a message? When we read that the Lord disciplines those he loves in the New Testament, we most likely never remember the fear, the holy fear, of a holy God. A God who has had enough of people's willful sins, defiance and rebellion. Today perhaps we need to reflect on one thing: God is jealous also for his name! God is God! He is Lord, he deserves first place. He will fight to be the love of our lives... even against us!

RE:act
If God was coming to dinner... are you ready for him? If Jesus was going to spend the day at school with you... are you ready for him? Guess what, he is with you. If you have given your life to Christ - he owns you. You have given yourself to him. Do you trust him? Do you believe he can run your life better than...you? He wishes to care for you. He loves to spend time with you. Do you love to spend time with him? Maybe our best reaction is to plead with God to help us love him more?

RE:ply
Lord, please be with me. Please be my God.
Lord prepare my heart to meet yours, prepare me to be a "sanctuary" for you.
Lord, I want to please you, trust you, and enjoy you forever.
Lord, help me to do this.

"
For they [parents] disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he [God] disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it."
Hebrews 12:10-11
