RE:flect"And should not I pity Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much cattle?” Jonah 4:11
Sometimes we need to pray to see people the way that God sees them, and not only people, but cattle(the whole picture, all of creation). Jonah knew God. He understood God's mercy, he knew he would forgive. And this was part of the problem. Even at the end of this book.. Jonah is still in need of new eyes.. to see, to understand. He needed to share in the compassion of God. It is one thing to know God, it is another thing to see others as God sees them!
RE:act
Create a top 5 list of people that you struggle with to enjoy being around. It's okay. Go ahead. Now pray for them, and ask God to help you see them the way he does. God is revealing himself to you, and has through his word. Now, will you ask the Holy Spirit to shape your eyes and heart to have compassion on those 5 people? Can you love others the way God loves them (maybe that is the silver rule, behind the golden rule)?
RE:ply
Lord, it is you that forgives, you that delivers, you that goes out to save others. Help me to have the same longing, passion and willingness to help others to know you.
Lord, thank you for your deliverance through Jesus.
Lord, give power to your church, help us to share your heart, and not the heart of Jonah.
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
