Ever think that you understand the needs of the time you live in? Ever understood the challenges, the opportunities, and have a desire to do them, see them fulfilled? As a young person, perhaps you are more concerned with the next submission of Halo. What I am asking from you is to see the world and the needs of the world. Now, what would happen if God told you, “I know that you understand my heart for these people, this situation, but you will not be the one to do it – your successor will.” How would you react?

Motivations, especially for holiness and to glorify God’s name, are good motivations. They are correct, they are true. But sometimes we get ahead of God. Sometimes we don’t see that we maybe laying a foundation for another, or we are told that God will bless us, has a purpose for us… but not this one. Can you accept that? Could you study for 4 years on a subject to find out you are not going down that road? We don’t have a Nathan to tell us God’s specific thoughts on our lives… but we should not attempt to do whatever we desire until we submit it to his will, his revelation and his timing.

Lord, thank you for David’s life. Thank your for his ups and downs. Thank you for this specific life from shepherd to king. Please use me for your glory—whether it be a shepherd or a king.
Lord, I await your timing. Mold my mind, my heart, my very life to carry the concerns, love and compassion of Jesus in my daily life.
Lord, thank you for loving me, I love you.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9
