02.18.08 - Jer. 31:12-15, 23-34

RE:flect
"And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

Ever think about the last portion of this verse before the first half? Why will we (members of this "new covenant") no longer say "know the Lord"? How can we all know him? I agree that this is the dream, the greatest part of this verse. It is the promise of everyone, the oldest to the youngest, the richest to the poorest, the greatest to the least... all will KNOW the Lord! Why? It will be based upon the FORGIVENESS of sins. God will forgive, God will remember no more. It will be an ultimate burial of sins. And an ultimate forgiveness.

RE:act
Today ask yourself if you "know the Lord". Is there any question, when we consider the ultimate sacrifice of God's son, Jesus, that we should not comprehend, see, understand, stand in awe, and KNOW the LORD? All of us, greatest to the least, must gaze upon this cross. All must see the ultimate act of forgiveness. Based upon this event came a new covenant, and in this covenant we see this prophecy fulfilled. Know the cross = Know the Lord.

RE:ply
Lord Jesus, thank you for coming and dying. Thank you for your victory over death, your going to prepare a place for us, and your return. We await you.
Lord, thank you for your passion to give your creation new hearts, minds, understanding and therefore, a new life through you.
Lord, thank you for our salvation. The forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help us to know that you have forgotten them all, and that we can have victory over temptation through the power that is now at work in us.
Amen.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
1 Peter 1:3-5
