RE:flect"Has a nation changed its gods, even though they are no gods? But my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit."
Sometimes we call this the "Lord issue" as if you first come to Jesus as savior, and then a couple of months, years, later you finally see him also as LORD of your life (boss, owner, etc). Many may call this the "re-dedication" moment. But I have a problem with this. Why? Because there is never a 2 step process in the Bible. Maybe we are less affective as youth ministers talking about this. But many students, after about 6 months after their baptism decide that "this isn't working the way I thought.." And soon then begin to walk the ways of their past, things that they were embarassed by 6 months earlier, and they are worse off. As if God is not with them any longer.... Why would someone exchange God for something lesser? Perhaps that have not really understood GOD in his fullness. Or really given this new "way" of life a real chance? Maybe I have failed to tell them how hard it can be...in the beginning.
RE:act
Today is a day of reflection again... and a day to email me. Yes, I am not sure how many students/parents even read these little scribblings of my mind on the net. But I need some help here. Please answer this question: What do I need to know about God in order that everything would seem "lesser than" when compared to him?
What is it that you think would help you understand the greatness of our Rescuer and Lord, and therefore would wilt away all other temptations before that knowledge of God?
RE:ply
Lord, help me to not be like the Israelites that forgot so soon your mighty rescue of them. Help to cling to you and to remind myself of your rescue of my soul, and your Lordship of my life.
Lord, bring our hearts to listen to your words, and bring our bodies to do your commands.
Lord, shape us through your Holy Spirit -- in gentleness and also with force. Help us to trust you even when it hurts.
Amen.

1. When i was a young Christian, my mentor warned me about being wary of the good feeling. If we are basing our following only on feeling, it will fade away quickly. What we need to ask God is to give us faith to hold on to His word. We ought to live by faith in what He has said and not what we feel.
Oftentimes, young Christians tend to go back because they base their faith on feelings...
2. It is not a matter of knowing about God as much as knowing God. Increasingly, i am finding that there is no substitute for knowing God. (You can check for a quote in my blog under the 'Book Meme.')
God bless.
