01.28.08 - Joel 2:1-2, 10-19

RE:flect
Look to the sky heed the warning, the shadow is coming... the shadow is coming...
Those are some of the lyrics of a P.O.D. song from well.. when most of you were 5 years old! The Day of the Lord (the day of judgment) was often called "THE DAY" in the Old Testament. A day of fear for those against God, a day of judgment and justice for those fighting with God in this world. So what is it like when you think you will be spared, and then find our that God is marching, and you (his people) are the target?
The Shadow of the Locust - the judgement of God... it is also good here to read vs. 3-9.

RE:act
The Lord is willing to forgive. We often never understand the depths of his love and the great amounts of forgiveness God has -- unless we understand his holiness and judgement. Once we understand how great and horrible the judgement of God is... and how close it is to happening (like what the prophets understood)... and then we see even at the last second God is still asking his people to repent, turn, and he will not bring judgement (but blessing!).

RE:ply
Lord, thank you for your truth, and your willingness to fight for what is right.
Lord, thank you for your forgiveness and grace. We don't get what we deserve. Thank you for forgiving us, for sending your son, and offering a new relationship with you.

"
As for you, O Lord, you will not restrainyour mercy from me; your steadfast love and your faithfulness will ever preserve me! For evils have encompassed me beyond number;my iniquities have overtaken me, and I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head; my heart fails me ."
Psalm 40:11-12
