12.24.07 -- I Samuel 18:1-9; 19:1-18

RE:flect
Will you be a Jonathan or a Saul? Will you celebrate with those and love them as you love yourself? Or will you look at them with an evil eye? Jonathan loved David enough to give him all of his promises in friendship (rob, armor, etc). Saul recognized David's success and promotes him, but does not love him, and becomes jealous and angry.

Think about people in your life that you don't care for too much. What can you discover and see in them that is worth cheering for? Now, getting closer--think of your good friends. Those friends that you spend time with each week the most. Do you wish for their best? Even if it surpasses you? Determine today to pray for their success, wisdom and happiness. Here is a secret--if you are praying for someone everyday, it is amazing what conversations and time is like hanging out with him/her. Especially a sister or brother!

During the Christmas season... aren't we all wishing for the present of: a loyal friend, trustworthy and good?

Lord, thank you for your word. For your wisdom, guidance, for the examples here. Help me to mine all the precious stones of your word each time I look into it. Guide me, and build me I pray.
Lord, help me to be the biggest cheerleader to those in my life who are pursuing you.
Lord, help me to not be like Saul. Help me to recognize false feeling and put them to death.
Lord, help me to also be blessed, to grow to be like Jesus -- wherever that lifestyle takes me.
Thank you Lord.

"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."
Proverbs 17:17
