12.11.07 -- Ruth 2:1-23

RE:flect
Oh how one is depressed at home. Oh how one works out of love for her mother in law. Oh how one gets noticed and helped. Oh how our deeds, our life, our works go on before us and are known to those around us (good and bad). Oh, how Naomi's ears are tingling as she knows that Boaz (this gracious man, this owner of field, this RELATIVE) is a kinsman-redeemer! What is that? Well we will see it in action. For now he is the one to help his extended family in times of need (marrying a widow, buying back land, buying back slaves). This is the KEY IDEA of this book.

RE:act
So, just do it! Do the right thing. Trust that God is working for you, through you, with you. You may not see it happening. You maybe like Naomi - depressed at home. Or like Ruth -- just trying to make it through the day enjoying the gifts of a kind hearted person. BUT then, wait. There maybe coming a time in your life soon that will be like that same house, those same women that evening. When 1 + 1 is put together and Naomi's heart begins to beat again... faster... something is happening.
So, for now... just be faithful. Just do it. Just do the right thing--it is God you serve and who watches over your coming and going.

RE:ply
Lord, I read, hear, see your provision, your protection, your shepherding of your people.
Lord, sometimes I don't see what you are doing. I am frustrated. I am lost. I am depressed.
But you, Oh Lord, are a strong tower, my refuge, my deliverance. In you our ancestors put their faith, they trusted you, and you came through.
Lord, I wait for you to come through for me.
Lord, I love you. Thank you for loving me.

"I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." Psalm 1:21 1-2
