11.09.07 – RE:ading: Exodus 12:31-42

RE:flect

430 years. Okay. I had a conversation with Kathryn last night before we went to bed about living for 500 years (like before the flood) and being able to have kids and learn more and more and more for 500 years! I can’t image that.

Now I can’t imaging being part of a people group that were slaves for some time of 430 years. We are not told how long the Israelites were slaves (maybe 80 years – Moses life is basically in Egypt for 40 years, in the desert 40 and in the wilderness with the Jews for 40…maybe even longer!).

Ever wonder when God is going to keep his promises? He has several of them that have not been fulfilled yet.

I use to struggle with guilt because here I am, a Christian in America (the last of 10,000 Bibles)… and there have been generations of people without knowledge of Jesus bound for hell for 2,000 years… Why didn’t God come back to make things right yet?

Then I discovered that God is willing to wait for all to hear the Gospel before he returns… and you know what… America does need a revival (but at least we have something to revive). So consider something…maybe God is waiting one of the readers of this blog to get off their but and get into Iraq, India, Western China, Russia, or even Saudi Arabia to share the message, love and Gospel of Jesus—so that all can have a chance.

God is indeed patient to wait for his deliverance, even to wait for a community to grow from 70 + Joseph already in Egypt at the end of Genesis to 600,000 MEN (13 and older maybe?), and what? 600,000 women also? And maybe 3-5 kids per family (doesn’t take long to see 2-4 million people and cattle also migrating around the land).

RE:act

What are the areas of life that you have little patience with?

Who are the people that you have little patience with?

What role can you play in the continued growth of the knowledge of Jesus migrating through the earth?

RE:ply

Lord, help me not to sit still. Help me not to be selfish with salvation.

Lord, help me to know, understand and share my faith. Help me to see the open doors.

Lord, I am ready to be used in any way. From Minneapolis to Afghanistan. Take my life, I have eternity with you—what are my dreams here on earth in comparisons to the promises and the dream of my God for me in heaven.

Lord Jesus, give me your passion for redemption…. and let me not only have the passion—but help be find ways to get it out of me and minister to a world longing for GRACE!

But to not forget this one thing, dear friends: with the LORD a day is like a thousands years, and a thousand years I like a day. The LORD is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand ‘slowness’. He is patient with you. Not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (II Peter 3:8-9).
